Welcome to the Event Calendar and Archive for my community engagement program, “What does it mean to be Hoopman?”
The active Hoopman construct is not currently out on exhibit. It is available.

October 2026 | City of Tacoma Police Public Safety Partnership (18 months)
Sandy was selected to join a citizen volunteer partnership with the local police department where she resides. This is an 18-month program inside Police Headquarters getting a deep look and understanding of the department.
Belonging and Police
Sandy sees this opportunity as a chance to gain an understanding of the role the police play within the reality we all share. To acknowledgment with the respect the level of access being given to outsiders, ze wishes to maintain a strengths-based view when learning, processing, or even giving any feedback.

Oasis Youth and Gender Fair
This was the start of Hoopman, officially. I wanted to discuss what it meant to be human – which, I felt was going to be controversial.
I am having this conversation because we don’t all agree.
Coming directly at people is a choice but often times, the resistance is a reflex and not done with thoughtful intention.
The goal is to connect;
NOT dominate,
NOT gaslight,
NOT intimidate,
NOT extort.
